Narrative ability is the important embodiment of language skills. Besides, Narrative ability has positive influences on other sides of young children. Therefore, understanding the characteristics of children’s narrative ability development should be put in the first place, for promoting the development of children’s narrative ability. Based on a true positive event and a true negative event, the study took the method of semi structured interview to build the corpus of young children’s narrative events. On that background, the study aims at exploring development characteristics of the true-event narrative ability among young children. The study revealed five points. First, the overall development level of young children’s true events narrative is relatively low. Second, with the growth of age, young children will continue to improve their narrative integrity of true events; in the meantime, young children’s integrity level of true positive events will be higher than that of true negative events. Third, with growth of age, young children’s narrative accuracy and facticity level will continuously rising, furthermore, their overall development level of this respect is relatively high. Fourth, young children’s development level of the sequence of true events narrative will increase with age. Fifth, the level of detail showed in the true events narrative of young children is relatively low. In addition, young children will supply with more spontaneous actions in true positive events narrative than in true negative events narrative. In the end,, the writer makes an analysis of the reasons, and puts forward some corresponding suggestion on education in hope of improving young children’s ability of true events narrative.
