Different kinds of new media resources have been innovated as rapid development ofmodern technology and internet, and earned its celebrity among college students. New mediachanges the mode of traditional media and effects college students’s pattern of learning, livingand recreation irreversibly. This brings great opportunity and challenge to college students’ideological and political education. As a result, study on related questions as how to betterapply new media to college students’ideological and political education is a task of greatimportance under new media environment.This paper adopts questionnaire, literature study and interview as its methodology,combines with the author’s decades of working experience in college students’ ideologicaland political education as well as summary of new media operation mode among key collegesand universities in Fujian province. This paper starts by systematically describing theconnotation of new media and summarizing listed features of new media through comparisonbetween traditional and new media in the first chapter; the second chapter dissects currentsituation and insufficiency of media use among college students based on statistic data andexplores the main problems existed in it.; the third chapter analyzes the impact of new mediaon college students ideological and political education; The fourth chapter systematicallybrings up countermeasures in practicing college students’ ideological and political education.By exploring in the filed of education such as concept, mechanism, modes, team, this paperaims at better solving the current difficulties and problems, as well as putting forth certaintheoretical basis and practice guidance in college students’ ideological and political education.
