As the teaching facilities that each university should be had, architecture laboratory plays a vital role in practical teaching, and has a far-reaching influence in control the depth of the student in understanding the content of building. Our country’s universities architecture laboratory currently is basically including structure lab, physics lab, material lab, model lab and other laboratory form which to be established separately, and most universities just set up2to3of them. And various universities are also very much the same in teaching mode of using of architecture lab, which is that teacher assigned task, students cramming for the task. The author thinks that this kind of teaching mode does not make full use of the advantage of laboratory, and hard to instruct the correct practice impression to students with the characteristics of laboratory. Through the theory of constructivism teaching ideas, from the point of view of design, this paper discusses the necessity of new architecture laboratory and the corresponding teaching mode, and having them designed.Firstly, this paper collected relevant information of domestic representative colleges and universities that have architecture major, researched each teaching labs, including its software and hardware:namely teaching forms and laboratory design forms. Through comparing and analysing to get the conclusion and the deficiency.Secondly, the author according to the existing condition and disadvantages of architecture laboratory, and based on theory of constructivism, designs the university architecture lab from two aspects. On the one hand is the teaching mode design that matching architecture laboratory; On the other hand is the architecture laboratory itself s design form.Based on constructivism theory, this paper concludes deficiency of domestic architecture laboratory at present through a large number of field investigation, and give improvement scheme of hardware and software from the view of design. Providing the effective theory reference and research methods for the future architecture teaching reform and laboratory design innovation.
