The ideological and political education is an important part of China’s higher education. It is very important for cultivating qualified socialist successors and the healthy growth of the college students that to strengthen ideological and political education of college students, and to promote the all-round development of them. The ideological and political education now are facing new opportunities and challenges from the huge change in the current international and domestic situation, so the methods and forms of it also needs to change.Traditional ideological and political education teachers simply teach students textbook knowledge, ignoring the student’s own experience, so leading to low effectiveness of the ideological and political education. Experiential education emerged and grew up in the late twentieth century. There is much practical application in domestic and international teaching, and gained certain achievement. It made up for some of the shortcomings and deficiencies of the traditional ideological and political education, and launched a challenge to the traditional ideological and political education philosophy. This paper brings experiential education to the ideological and political education of college students, makes a systematic exposition of it and explores the feasibility that the experiential education applies practically. At the same time, according to the content of ideological and political education, I give to you several practice cases about the experiential education, and investigate the value of it from them.The text is divided into five parts. The first part is an introduction, including research background, research status at domestic and international, the study topics and main problems, and the meaning and value of the study.The second part is the consolidated discussion, elaborating the meaning, features and the educational value of the experiential education, laying the theoretical basis for the text.The third part gives the necessity of in the ideological and political education, and argues for the great meaning that the experiential education applies in the college students’ ideological and political education.The forth part gives the basic requirements that the experiential education applies in the college students’ ideological and political education.The fifth part is based on the previous parts of the text. It combines with several cases of the current, applies to it, and explores the value of experiential education.
