In the past decades, employment of university graduates, which includes working programs and academic programs, has become a serious problem, appeared in a great expansion of colleges, which means the collage education was trends to popularity. College graduates was facing some huge pressure like large total graduates number, poor employment ability, economic crisis, transformation and upgrading of industrial structure, and so on. The employment problem of college students has become a social sciences focus issue by scholars attention and research. At that background, Independent college, with years of development, has grew up to be a significant part of higher education system in China. However, because of the particularity of school property, the independent college graduates facing greater challenges on employment, such as: low social recognition, insufficient understanding by companies, narrow employment channels, lack of employment ability, etc. An accurate understanding of the situation of independent college graduates employment,and a objective analysis of the employment-related factors, which is positive to seek the feasible way to solve the problem of independent college graduates, and it also has an important practical significance.This article attempts to research the factors of independent graduates first employment from the two aspects, human capital and social capital, by on of the independent college graduates employment information of Hunan province from 2007 to 2010 calendar year, 6883 cases was received and collected as a sample. Afterward,by using variance analysis, correlation analysis and logistic regression, the sample was discussed from residence, parents occupation, whether as a student cadre, gender,grade point(GPA), CET-4 and CET-6 situation, honors circumstance.Through chi square test, in addition to influence the employment status of the parentswork of independent college graduates is not significant, registered permanent residence, as a student cadre, gender, GPA, CET-4 and CET-6 situation, honors circumstance is significant. And through multiple correspondence analysis will be divided into four types of graduates.In this article, through the analysis of attempts by binary logistic regression model, it was found that the students’ situation of whether as a student cadre, GPA,CET-4 and CET-6, honors circumstance, has significant impact for the them to employ.Instead, the impact of parental occupation, residence, gender, was not suchsignificant.If the students who has affluent human capital and social capital, the probability of successful employment was 98.16%, and 1.84% of them cannot employ successful.If the students who lack of both human capital and social capital, the successful rates was decreased to 56.59%, and others was fail. By using the “backward screening”method of the binary logistic regression model. in turn to cut out the variables, which are parents occupation, whether as a student cadre, CET-4 and CET-6 situation.Students who has comparatively richer social capital and human capital got a higher probability to get the opportunities to continues their study to master degree of44.55%, others are 55.45%. However, the postgraduate opportunities for students who has few social capital and human capital was decreasing to 4.46%, and 95.54% of them cannot continue to master;s study.It can be seen from the above empirical results, human capital is the main factor to affect the university students’ employment. To effectively solve the employment problem of independent college graduates, promote the sustainable development of the independent college, the article offer some proposals from the perspective of state,schools, individuals.
