Guidance Case Teaching is an innovative teaching model popular in middle school teaching for the past few years. It means using the guidance case to guide the teaching in real practice with teacher’s teaching as guidance and students as the main subjects of independent learning. It’s a teaching pattern requiring the cooperation between teachers and students to complete the teaching and learning assignments. This kind of teaching model lays stress on the “teaching” of teachers and “learning” of students.This paper elaborates on the research significance, the research status quo abroad and at home, the research contents and methods of Guidance Case Teaching through reviewing literature and offers the basic framework, the principles and the procedures of writing guidance case. Furthermore, it provides the main procedures of the application process of Guidance Case Teaching, which includes knowing the learning objectives, independent learning based on guidance case, cooperative inquiry learning, achievement presentation,classroom practice and summarizing feedbacks, it also gives the real teaching case: scientific notation teaching case.The research chooses the 2012 seven grade and the 2011 seven grade students of Lingshui Siyuan Experimental School in Hainan province as the experimental subjects and compares the effects of Guidance Case Teaching and traditional teaching in Junior middle school mathematics teaching through experimental comparison, questionnaires and interviews,focusing on the students’ academic performance, learning interests and learning abilities. The author analyses the survey data, presents the result in the form of table, and draw line graph and pie chart. The broken like graph and pie diagram based on the data shows that Guidance Case Teaching is more effective than traditional teaching.The teaching experiment concludes that compared with the traditional teaching model,the Guidance Case Teaching boasts of the following advantages: improving teaching quality,changing teaching method and students’ learning style in a favorable way, intriguing students’ learning interests, enhancing students’ ability to study independently and to cooperate inlearning, improving students’ arithmetic capability. Therefore, it is apparent that Guidance Case Teaching is effective and feasibl.
