The aim of this thesis is to build competency model of teachers working on mental health education in secondary vocational school,and put the model into practice to provide reference for the vocational schools in recruitment and selection, training, performance appraisal.Based on the literature analysis, firstly this thesis adopts BEI to interview the samples of teachers working on mental health education in secondary vocational school. Secondly, based on pre-research,this thesis builds competency model for teachers working on mental health. Thirdly, self-evaluation questionnaire on mental health teachers is designed according to the model. After exploratory factor analysis of data gained from the preliminary questionnaire, competency factors for mental health teachers are identified, and competency initial model for mental health teachers is formed. Finally formal questionnaire ismade and the model is testified. The followings are some conclusions.(1) The competency model for mental health teachers in secondary vocational schools is multi-dimensional.It includes 6 factors:profession, self adjusting, interpersonal insight, initiative, professional ethics and effective classroom teaching;(2) After the exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and reliability and validity tests for self-evaluation questionnaire on mental health teachers in secondary vocational schools,it shows that this questionnaire has great reliability and validity and meets the requirements of surveying;(3) In general, the competency model for mental health teachers in secondary vocational schools has no significant gender differences, but there exit significant differences of age, academic qualifications and seniority.
