As an ancient saying goes, “question is the source of knowledge.” So questions play an important role in thinking and learning. With the development of knowledge economy and new curriculum reform, the advantages of problem-based learning are becoming more and more obvious. This essay mainly studies the necessity and possibility of problem-based learning in high school.By collecting, sorting and inducing documents and educational monographs, this essay firstly traces the history of problem-based learning at home and abroad, and then gives the definition of problem-based learning.Combined with these theories, my working experience, questionnaires and interviews of history teachers and students in a Qin’an high school, this essay mainly researches on the possibility and feasibility of problem-based learning depending on its implementation process, steps and relevant principles. I find that this method still has many problems,according to history teachers’ work and students’ learning situation in the high school. This essay aims to puts forward some soluions to these problems and constructive suggestionsThrough the above research, this essay concludes that the method has its own advantages and many practical problems. For example, teachers don’t fully understand it,and they only focus on the formality; students lack problem consciousness and self-study abilities and so on. In order to carry out problem-based learning effectively, these problems ahead of teachers and students must be solved, which has a long way to go.All in all, this essay tries to state and research the method from all aspects, aiming to make a systematic and comprehensive breakthrough. Secondly, it tries to put forward some constructive suggestions combined with my own working experience and practical situations under the new curriculum reform.
