The Research Of The Cooperation Experience Between Social Workers And Volunteers

Since the development and opening up, we’ve got a rapid development in our politics, economic and culture. Our living standard has greatly enhanced. The needs of social service grow faster and faster. The vigorous development of social service promote the development of social work and voluntary service, as well as they cooperation. So the social workers as the main force of social work and the volunteers as the main force of voluntary service get more and more chances to work together. The social workers and volunteers have the same nature and goals to help others, but social workers is armed by scientific knowledge and professional skills of professional personnel, the volunteers are consisting of the people all walks of life with a passion and enthusiasm to help others. Social worker represents "professional", while volunteers express the "love". The social workers and volunteers’ cooperation more and more emergence in social service, they combine the professional to the love, and their cooperation attract more and more attention. But how they cooperate, what’s the result of their cooperation, how to improve their cooperation and how to build a better cooperate model, we still confused and can’t get an answer. In order to get all the answers of the questions above, we should do a exploratory research to get know how they cooperate now.It will help improve their cooperation to get better result, and been positive to the specialization of social work as well as the standardization of voluntary.This paper will use qualitative research to explore the cooperation experience of social worker and volunteers by interviews, and try to get out the better cooperate model of their cooperation. In this article, I will interview two social worker and four volunteers in the same service program. Firstly, get their understanding of themselves and others’ roles and tasks to understand their position in the program. Secondly, I will try to understand their interpretation of the relationship between social workers and volunteers in the program. Finally, through all the understands of the question above to get the better cooperate model.The research result shows that: the social workers play the role of leader and organizer, while the volunteers play the role of participant and assistant. They thought they are symbiosis as well as leader and assistant relationship. Though they all satisfied with their cooperation right now, they all want their cooperation will be improved in the future. Social workers want to built mutual-help group between social workers and volunteers, in order to improve the quality of the service as well as to realize thier self-help. Volunteers want the social workers to teach they professional knowledge and skills to improve their service, and finally improve the quality of whole social service.
