For the current objectives of secondary school education, in terms of Chinese teaching, writing is the most important subject. Writing as an essential part of Chinese teaching, it is not only challenging teachers teaching abilities, but also frightens students from learning Chinese. Since the education revolution, increasing attention is paid to writing teaching. Chinese writing skills can be the overall performance quality; apart from that, it can also improve the viability and self-development ability in the social life. From the research to No.12 Secondary School in Yanji, it can be found that the writing teaching meets a big challenge for the current situation. Specifically, time-consuming and low efficiency are the main barriers for Chinese teaching. It is necessary to have the teaching revolution, especially for the writing teaching. From the case study on the No.12 Secondary School, the students’current attitudes on writing are:strong boredom, lack of writing abilities, etc. And there are various causes. For example, there are insufficient writing materials what can be accumulated and applied by students; teachers did not have a clear guidance on the specific requirements; teaching classes are overly rigid and outdated; the traditional and single assessment requirements of the composition cannot cultivate the understanding of writing.This essay based on the current situation, time-consuming and low efficiency, as well as personal teaching experience in No.12 Secondary School, is put forward the methods and countermeasures in improving writing teaching quality. From the research, the main reasons causing time-consuming and low efficiency are as below. Firstly, lack of targeted and consistent writing teaching materials. Specifically, writing teaching still relies on the writing training units within Chinese textbooks. It cannot meet the needs of students which may constraint the improvement of writing skills because of rigid requirements. Secondly, as the improvement of writing skills do more rely on the teachers’supervision and correction, the abilities of teachers can become one influencing factor for the improvement of writing skills. There are some teachers more focus on reading than writing and may neglect the importance of correction of compositions, which may mislead students. Thirdly, students are not interested in observing and thus have few understanding of genuine feelings as well as the detailed emotional awareness. Moreover, because of excessive burden of studies, students show less interest on reading and thus have narrow range of knowledge. Both of them are the key factors for writing.As a conclusion, I believe that for the revolution of writing teaching, first of all we must follow the guidance of writing theory and course standard. And then, establish the regulations of writing teaching management in order to developing teaching evaluation protocols, which can promote the quality of teachers. And finally, good teachers can help students to improve their writing skills, and also raise interest on writing, and thus increase the teaching efficiency and quality.
