Reading activities for students to learn and grow has very important significance. On the one hand, reading activities can help students acquire knowledge and improve ability, on the other hand, also can edify sentiment, broaden their impact on the students, and improve the important role of personality. In reading activities, modern article reading of status is especially important, it throughout the whole process of Chinese teaching, not only to the students’ ability of reading text plays a vital role, and in a certain extent, modern article reading teaching of other subjects also plays a restrict and affect the result. Based on the above reasons, in order to be able to better understand the current status of high school students’modern article reading teaching, the author deeply in Gongzhuling NO.3 Senior Middle School, field investigation and analysis. Through the survey found that the modern article reading present situation is not optimistic, the main problems include:young teachers lack of experience; the language reader utilization rate is not high; Teachers treat selected questions biased; Students’ learning interest is not high, low ability.Gongzhuling NO.3 Senior Middle School as a public ordinary high school, students’admission score is not high, generally foundation is bad, not form a good habit of autonomous learning and attainment. Downturn in the Chinese modern literature reading questions serves has been exactly where the cause is, and should be how to solve these problems, is the language teachers need to face and solve the problem. Through to the modern article reading present situation investigation and analysis of the causes, this article tries from the classroom education and extracurricular lead two aspects as a breakthrough point and focus of solution is given. Specific include:the school management countermeasures:support activities, strengthening young teachers’ quality; to strengthen the construction of infrastructure, increase extracurricular accumulation. The teacher countermeasures:rich teaching methods, increase students’ learning interest; enriching the content of reading, and expand the students’ knowledge. Student: strengthen the initiative of modern article reading knowledge accumulation. Teaching activity is not the teacher’s personal performance, want to improve the present situation of the modern article reading teaching, to schools, teachers, parents and students work together.
