It’s acknowledged that the declining physical fitness of Chinese youths has become a focus in society. Our country has put forwarded kinds of ways to improve their physical fitness, such as ensure the implementation of the school physical works, guarantee school exercise time, increase the PE proportion in senior high school entrance examination and so on. There are some problems appeared during the implementation process, such as the deficiency of PE teaching quality, the incorrectness of basketball basic skills, which is the problem even for the basketball majors in the entrance examination every year. Some of teachers haven’t a good command of correct movements so as to cause the above problems during teaching process. A teacher’s professional knowledge influences thousands of students, so it’s very important for teachers to demonstrate correct movements in class. To solve the problem, we have to focus on the training of PE major in university. It’s crucial to adopt some measures to strengthen PE major’s professional learning. It’s discovered that imagery training is an effective teaching and training methods. This paper will conduct a study to discuss whether the imagery training can help to strengthen basketball majors to master correct, standard movements.This paper adopts some methods such as documentary, questionnaire, survey, expert interview, experimentation, and mathematical statistics. The result of the study demonstrate that there are some differences between two groups in shooting, break through and dribbling by testing the T value after experiment and these two group’s motor skills have been significantly improved. According to test, it indicates that four motor skills of experimental group increased higher than comparison group on average. By testing T value on two groups’ motor imagery level after experiment, it shows that there are significant differences among dimensionalities of motor imagery level. According to every dimensionality and total value of imagery level, the improving range ofexperimental group’s imagery level is obviously superior to the comparison group. By testing T value on two groups’ basketball learning motivation, it shows that there are big differences between them, which means that the experimental group’s learning motivation value is higher than the comparison group. Imagery training is useful to improve student’s learning motivation and have a good command of correct basketball motor skills and the experimental conclusion as fellows :(1)The use of imaginary training in the basketball major elective courses of P.E.major in ordinary universities will help to improve student’s motivation to learn basketball playing skills and their study efficiency.(2)The usage of imagery training in general colleges’ basketball selective courses improve the imagery ability of students. The experiment shows that the students who have higher imagery level have the better motor skills they. These two factors are closely related.(3)It is more effective to use imagery training than use former traditional teaching method in general colleges’ basketball selective courses, which can develop and consolidate students’ basketball motor skills.(4)The usage of imagery training in general colleges’ basketball selective courses develops the teaching information from single to multiple direction, which can deepen and consolidate students’ knowledge and skills.
