Since H. J. Freudenberger, a clinical psychologist in American, first proposed the concept of “job burnout” in 1974, the majority of scholars pay more attention to this field. The relevant researches, in recent thirty years, have shown that job burnout is easy to break out among the teachers, it can lead to emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, reduce personal accomplishment and so on. The secondary vocational school education is one of the important branches of high school education in China. Its responsibility is to train the students with junior and middle level skills. It can also promote the development of economic and the progress of society. However, in the recent years, many researches show that most teachers in the secondary vocational schools have job burnout. They have a passive attitude at work like lacking of enthusiasm for teaching and students, using the backward teaching methods and so on. It not only affects the physical and mental health of teachers, but also causes a lot of negative effects on the students’ growth. Meanwhile, it also obstructs the development of China’s secondary vocational education. Therefore, the whole social, the educational administrative departments and the school management should focus on the job burnout of teachers and have a systematic research on the job burnout of secondary vocational school teachers, exploring and analyzing the factors and proposing the suggestions to solve the problem. The paper is based on the relevant theories on teachers’ job burnout from the books and papers. The investigation included 135 teachers in S secondary vocational school by questionnaires which was based on ‘the measurement table of teachers’ job burnout in secondary vocational schools’ by Wu Zhen and Zhao Zizhen. According to the questionnaires, the author interviewed a part of teachers who suffered from the job burnout deeply, and proposed the suggestions. The questionnaires showed that teachers in S secondary vocational school all have job burnout in different degrees. Physical and mental exhaustion and lacking of accomplishment are more serious than depersonalization. In addition, it also included the relationship between job burnout and some important elements, such as gender, seniority of teaching, professional title, academic background, subjects of teaching and teacher in charge of a class or not. According to the results of interviews, the author concluded the reason of teachers’ job burnout in four aspects, government, schools, students and teachers themselves. The author also gave some suggestions to prevent and solve the problem like improving the government functions, the management of schools, the ability of teacher’s self-adjustment and so on.
