| Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications(hereinafter referred to as NJUPT) is a comprehensive University of science and engineering. In more than 20,000 undergraduate students, 214 students failed to go up to the next grade due to inability to complete their education requirements in 2013, representing 1% of the number of the whole school students. Under the enormous academic pressure, some repeaters started to be weary of studying and play truant, so that they are unable to complete their studies, even some students got mental disorders, have the idea of suicide.There are almost 1000 students of NJUPT received mental health counseling annually, more than half of them have expressed that the academic pressure bring to them great psychological distress. With the strong interest of the connection of college students’ mental health, learning performance and other issues, I protocoled this project, hoping it is helpful to the university student education work.This research regard the learning performance as the dependent variable and college student mental health as independent variables, with the purpose of analyzing factors that affect students’ learning performance, improving and exploring approach to enhance the learning performance. First of all, the domestic and overseas literature which concerning mental health and learning performance have been reviewed, at the same time, this text combines with theoretical knowledge of mental health, performance management, GPA, project management, setting up project ideas and research content; adopting methods of literature research, case analysis, interviewing, questionnaires and empirical analysis, using the “symptom Checklist-SCL90†to evaluate college students’ mental health, GPA(Grade Point Average) is used to on behalf of the students’ learning performance; by using spss19.0 software carried through the detection of the validity and reliability of questionnaire, sample descriptive statistics, related variables independent T-test detection correlation analysis, as well as multiple regression equations to research the effects to college students learning performance. The results indicated: Compared with male students, female students of NJUPT have higher learning performance, but slight more serious mental health symptoms; ‘Arts’ college Students of NJUPT have higher learning performance when compared to the ‘science and engineering’ students, but with slightly serious psychological health symptoms.Students who have better learning performance have more serious mental health symptoms. The more serious symptoms in the aspect of ‘ somatization, depression, anxiety, paranoia ‘, the lower learning performance students have.Finally, based on above background of NJUPT, applying knowledge of psychology, direct at the problem of NJUPT students’ mental health and learning performance, this text came up with the advices to improve college students’ mental health symptoms and improve learning performance, with the view of educating college students to have a correct view of the learning process, stimulating learning motivation, rising from the learning trouble, and actively responding to adverse psychological symptoms, paying attention to rest, developing a scientific study habits and actively communicating with others, therefore, creating a favorable learning environment. |
