English language skills and knowledge of the language is the basis of students’ comprehensive ability to use language, but I work in a primary school English teaching for so many years and I found that, both in teaching research or teaching practice or research activities at all levels, they always focus on the classroom instruction, but few mention the English Homework design. Because the homework is generally limited knowledge of English homework school subjects, the students are away from real life and social life. The students are been ignored to improved their language skills. In this study, the status is around the English homework of high level primary school, specifically explore two issues: weather the current English primary homework is help to improve English language skills, what kind of homework should be designed to help students improve their English language skills.Based on the papers and experiences, “The Questionnaire of the homework design in high grades of Primary School” has passed the trial test, attaining relatively high reliability and validity. 358 students from 8 different classes in Yunshi Campas of Zhenming Central Primary School have participated the survey, and by random selecting, 4 teachers and 4 student were interviewed. The following conclusion is summed up:English homework design purpose is not clear, the lack of concern for students, no student-centered; English homework types, but English homework time is too long, English homework overburdened; ignore the characteristics of students’ language skills acquisition, part of the job of the language lack of effectiveness of skills upgrading; English homework design students there are still many needs, students can expect more work in English life, hierarchical, more practical, more diverse in terms of job types.Based on the above findings, this study proposes aims to enhance students’ language skills in primary school English homework designed to implement the recommendations. Fifth Grade English homework designed according to the following strategy: flexible design practical work to enhance students’ listening skills; cooperative interaction design practical work to enhance students’ speaking skills; design hierarchical level of customization work to enhance students’ reading skills; open design diversified operations, enhance students’ writing skills.
