The basic education reform in China attaches great importance to curriculum reform, as any educational objective is achieved depending on curriculum. As a highlight in this curriculum reform, the idea of curriculum resources is put forward. The utilization of rich course resources aims at promoting realization of educational objectives. The local history curriculum resource is an important part of history curriculum resources, its effective utilization has important practical significance. Whether the rich local history curriculum resources in various area have been incorporated into corresponding history classroom teaching of middle school and what about its utilization status, which are problems worthy of further discussing.Generally speaking, the local history curriculum resource refers to the sum of all history curriculum resources which can be used to achieve the objective of history curriculum in the region where the students are located. The local history curriculum resources have diversified types and forms, which can be basically divided into text resources, physical resources, verbal resources, human resources and electronic digital resources. As the local history curriculum resources are different in different regions, the author conducts a study by taking Liaocheng where he or she is located as an example. As one of national famous historic and cultural cities, Liaocheng has rich local history curriculum resources, including long history, brilliant historic site and remains, world famous historic celebrities, long spread legend, etc. The full utilization of these resources in middle school history class is not only helpful to enhance students’ identity in hometown, improve the students’ interest in studying history, transform teachers’ traditional teaching mode dominated by teaching, but also is helpful to promote the development of local tourism as well as inheritance and development of local culture.This paper carries on a questionnaire survey research by taking Liaocheng No.2 Middle School as an example, which tries to make relevant discussions on the resource utilization of local history curriculum of middle school. Through the data analysis of questionnaire survey results, the author has found many problems are existed in the resource utilization situation of local history curriculum of Liaocheng. On the basis of analysis of reasons for these problems, the author conducts teaching case design from three aspects: history class teaching, history extracurricular activities and investigative study; and conducts integration testing on the local history curriculum resource of Liaocheng and the history teaching of middle school, thus to achieve the goal of full utilization of local history curriculum of middle school.
