Vocabulary plays a very important role in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It is widely known that the learning of phonology and grammar would be impossible without the input of vocabulary. It would be thus impossible for the improvement of their Chinese language proficiency. In this respect, the design of textbook vocabulary contributes to the efficient input of vocabulary. Therefore, the series of Experiencing Chinese(junior courses) will be analyzed in this study in terms of the total quantity of vocabularies, the distribution of vocabulary in teach lesson, super-syllabus vocabulary, vocabulary notes and exercises. The methods employed in the current study include literature review, material collection and data analysis. The purpose of the study is to explore the arrangement of the textbook vocabulary, based on which suggestions for the teaching Chinese as a foreign language will be put forward.The findings of the current study are as following:1、In terms of vocabulary, the total quantity of vocabulary and vocabulary in the textbook are generally appropriate, and meet the requirements of the teaching syllabus. The quantity of vocabulary increases with the increase of learning hours. And the selection of vocabulary follows the rules of being practical, objective, interesting, scientific and systemic.2、As for vocabulary notes, the notes are reasonable and it is easy for students to remember the words. While it is suggested that the characteristics of vocabulary should be included so students’ better memory of vocabulary.3、In terms of super-syllabus vocabulary, it is shown that the super-syllabus vocabulary has been strictly arranged, which reduces the difficulty level of vocabulary learning. It is suggested that some modern and new words should also be included so that the teaching Chinese as a foreign language can keep up with the development of society.4、In terms of vocabulary excises, it is shown that there are various vocabulary exercises and the quantity of exercises is appropriate, which can help with students’ memorization and revision of vocabulary.In Thailand, Chinese is a required course in Chinese schools, where there are more teaching hours and students are with a relatively good foundation of Chinese. Therefore, the series of textbooks are not appropriate for Thailand students. They are suggested to use textbooks with a larger quantity of vocabularies and with a higher level of difficulty. However, Experiencing Chinese is good textbook for learners in general school where Chinese is an optional course.
