Chinese theme-based learning activities in Xuzhou Gongyuan Xiang primary school is an outcome of its new curriculum reform, which is as a Chinese teaching model of this school. The present article based on clarifying and exploring the Chinese teaching pattern of Xuzhou Gongyuan Xiang primary school, explains the essence of Chinese teaching model combined with existing studies. Then, on the basis of the explanation the paper sums up some experience of theme-based learning activities and some room for improvement. And we hope that it can bring some enlightenment to contemporary Chinese teaching.The article mainly explores the Chinese theme-based learning activities in Xuzhou Gongyuan Xiang primary school in terms of theory and practice. Firstly, the paper analyzes the rationality and necessity of this teaching model from the aspect of theory.We found that the theme-based learning activities are designed based on three aspects:course standard, teaching material and learning situation. These three aspects are the basis of the rationality of instructional design. Meanwhile, we point out the necessity of teaching reform from the aspect of theory. And it mainly analyzes the requirement of new curriculum reform and students’ comprehensive development.The article’s main parts are about the study of Chinese theme-based learning activities in Xuzhou Gongyuan Xiang primary school from the aspect of practice. From three aspects: practice and exploration of theme-based unit learning activities, practice and research of theme-based ancient poetry learning activities and practice and research of theme-based composition learning activities, we carry on comprehensive research to the Chinese theme-based learning activities in Xuzhou Gongyuan Xiang primary school.The work mainly includes collecting the VCRs of teaching activity, teaching design and students’ homework, classifying, sorting and analyzing these materials. By the comprehensive analysis of this teaching model, we may explain the essence of Chinese teaching model.By studying the Chinese theme-based learning activities in Xuzhou Gongyuan Xiang primary school, we found that this teaching model is reasonable and efficient.But there’s some room for improvement. Since the new curriculum reform, many primary and secondary schools around have the positive response of this reform and promote teaching reform. The study of Chinese theme-based learning activities in Xuzhou Gongyuan Xiang primary school can not only provide reference to theseschools, but also promote the further development of the new curriculum reform.
