Good approaches toward learning are conductive to children’s school preparation,and affect the development of peer relations and social ability,which are of great significance to children’s lifelong development.Picture books have vivid and interesting pictures and simple and easy to understand words,which are in line with children’s reading characteristics and are deeply loved by children.Among many picture books,scientific picture books can stimulate children’s interest in learning,promote children’s thinking about problems and phenomena,and are a good carrier to cultivate children’s learning quality.Chinese local science picture books are rooted in Chinese local soil.They not only contain some unique Chinese scientific concepts,but also have a unique Chinese aesthetic,which is close to the life of Chinese children and has cultural advantages in promoting the development of children.Previous studies have done little discussion on Chinese local scientific picture books,and there is also a lack of empirical research on cultivating children’s approaches toward learning through theme activities of picture books.Therefore,this study takes Chinese local scientific picture books as the medium to intervene in children’s approaches toward learning,aiming to promote the development of children’s approaches toward learning,provide reference suggestions for the cultivation of children’s approaches toward learning,and open up a new way for Chinese local picture books to go deep into local kindergartens.This study selected 57 children from two top classes in a kindergarten.The two classes are basically the same in terms of age and level of teachers,and are randomly assigned as experimental classes and control classes.The children in the experimental class intervened in the10-week Chinese local science picture book theme activities,and conducted the daily teaching activities of the control class.Through observation and evaluation and parent questionnaire,children’s learning quality level is measured before and after,and compared and the results are analyzed,to explore whether the theme activities of Chinese local science picture books have a significant effect on promoting the approaches toward learning of children aged 5-6.The researchers analyzed the experimental results and concluded the conclusions as follows:(1)targeted theme activities of Chinese local science picture books can promote the overall development of approaches toward learning of children aged 5-6,(2)The theme activities of Chinese local science picture books play a significant role in promoting the curiosity and interest,initiative,persistence and attention,and reflection and interpretation of the approaches toward learning of children aged 5-6 years old.According to the results of this study,the following educational suggestions are put forward:(1)researchers and teachers should pay attention to Chinese local picture books,explore the educational value in local picture books and focus on the cultivation of children’s approaches toward learning,(2)kindergartens should carry out rich and effective theme activities based on picture books,(3)teachers should implement targeted and comprehensive approaches toward learning improvement strategies for training,(4)should pay attention to the differences of children in approaches toward learning and find educational opportunities,(5)maintain the consistency and continuity of approaches toward learning training.
