At present, the current situation of history teaching and assessment in Jiangsu province urgently calls for an optimal output in a limited period when teaching. Thus, a vital and effective avenue to improving teaching efficiency is to set up a detailed and speific teaching targets and arrange the teaching process cautiously. Only in the way can teachers make all-round improvements in their teaching. Actually, as a main method of teaching principle, scholars and researchers in this field both home and abroad have carried out some academic researches and experiments about setting the teaching targets.In this paper, the author will have a try on this topic in the following aspects:1. Realizing the essence and content of history teaching targetsBased on the theory and personal experience, the author make a deep analysis on the real meaning of history teaching targets. Deeply understanding and mastering the content for history teaching in the senior high level, the author predicts the future trend in this field, which is the outline of this paper.2. Understanding the background information and necessity for new reform in setting theIn this paper, it takes a brief look at the background information of education reform in China, and the current situation of history teaching in Jiangsu province under the new form of National College Entrance Examination. What’s more, this paper includes a detailed analysis of history teaching phenomenon in our school and a statment about the previous teaching targets setting method and the teaching output. Therefore, the writer find the information gap between theory and practice, which leads to the development of this paper.3. A practice in setting the teaching aims for historyTake one unit as an example, the writer have a go at giving a sample teaching aims setting, and then apply her thoughts to the history teaching in the senior high school. According to the standard teaching aims of history teaching in Jiangsu province, the writer herself exploits the teaching material further, including making a detailed teaching aims from knowledge learning to emotion developing, and finally come to a conclusion about a practical teaching process for history teaching.4. Existing problems and future developmentBased on the reflection, it concludes some potential problems when following this method of teaching, and put forward some assumptions and solutions to those problems. In the end, the author get a perspective of the trend in this field.
