In 1986, the former State Education Commission and the former National Sports Federation issued the document <A Plan about Extracurricular Sports Training and Improving Schools Sports Skills>, in which it was stated: There is still a great gap between the scale and level of the development of China’s sports undertakings compared with the advanced world levels; We must adhere to the policy of popularization and improvement, adopt effective measures, and make sports develop to a higher degree; We need to emphasize on school education, start from children, and actively undertake sports training when improving students’ physique.Athletics training is a special educational process to comprehensively improve athletes’ physique and specific performances. Athletics training is the key to improve the development of athletics. With the continuous development of athletics, the theories and practices of athletics training have formed a relatively scientific system.Extracurricular athletics training in high schools is one of the foundations of the national athletics, and it plays a key role in aspects of training high-level sports reserve talent in various forms with multi-channel on multi-level. It has trained and sent a large number of outstanding athletic talents for many sports reserve experimental schools and traditional sports schools.Hebei Pingshan Middle School is a traditional sports school in Hebei Province. In the past 2015 Hebei High School Championships, it has made outstanding achievements.However, in 3 years’ teaching and training practice in Pingshan Middle School, the author found that there are some problems in terms of athletics training methods. For example, for strength, speed, stamina, agility, flexibility and mental training of athletics, our athletics teachers often only pay attention to the first four types of training, and lack a systematic and professional training program for flexibility training and mental training. Most teachers do not have an adequate awareness of the role played by flexibility training and mental training.Flexibility training is very important for comprehensively improving or maintaining flexibility quality, improving athletic performance and preventing sports injury, andstrengthening technical movement range. It is an important composing part of athletic training.Improving training levels through strategies and methods of mental training can make athletes maximize their potential in the best state, so that they can have better performances, reduce fatigue, regulate their own emotions, and restore good physical and mental state. But the athletics training in Pingshan High School lacks the training of these two aspects, leading to problems of athletes in increasing range of technical motion, prevention of sports injuries, and anxiety before the game, etc., which affects the improvement of athletes’ performance.To this end, this study uses various methods including literature data, survey interviews,questionnaires, data statistics and experimental research methods and designs athletics flexibility and mental quality training programs mainly targeting problems existing in the extracurricular program in Pingshan Middle School in terms of flexibility quality and psychological quality.The results are as follows:1. Through interviews and surveys, it is found that current teachers and athletes has a certain content in extracurricular athletics training and psychological of Pingshan Middle Schools.But current teachers do not pay enough attention to flexibility quality and psychological quality training. Athletes’ flexibility quality is poor and their psychological problems cannot be resolved.2. In terms of flexibility quality, according to the actual requirements of the training, this program puts the training of flexibility quality into warming up, relaxing activities, and strength training without affecting the basic training. The flexibility method of 47 kinds of various parts of the body, usually applied to the training process. In flexibility test, the subjects have significant differences in four test indicators including sit and reach, prone dorsiflexion, shoulder circuit, and arm swivel clip stick.3. In terms of psychological quality, current teachers should put the athletes in goal setting and progressive relaxation, representation, simulation method, a method of psychological rehabilitation of sports injuries, usually applied to the training process. In psychological quality training experiments, SCAT questionnaire does not have significant effect through tests. But, based on scores of the questionnaire after the training, it can be seen that the psychological training is effective. There are significant differences in theperformance of four tests.
