With the global rise of the "Chinese fever", more and more overseas international schools started the Chinese language course. With special education conditions and students, every international school has commonness and individuality. As an organic part of International Chinese education, the Chinese language teaching in International school has increasingly become an important way of learning Chinese for primary and secondary students.The author, by the opportunity of doing her internship in Matrix International school in Malaysia, expanded the research around their Chinese teaching. By using different research methods, such as investigation, class observation, questionnaire and interview, the author described the basic situation of Matrix International school, including the teaching philosophy and teaching mode. In the main chapter, the author researched and analyzed the Chinese teaching situation. According to the existing problems of Chinese teaching, this paper puts forward some suggestions for improvement. I hope to provide some reference for the school administrators and teachers to make full use of the advantages and resources of the school, at the same time improve the quality of Chinese teaching.Through the investigation of Matrix international school, the author got a preliminary understanding of the current situation of Chinese teaching in international schools. With further search of the relevant literature, the author thinks that although the research is a case study, but reflects common characters about Chinese teaching in international schools, for example, its international education management mode, multicultural background of teachers and students, flexible and innovative teaching methods, quality environment and resources, etc. It also reflects the common issues, such as unstable teachers and students, limited Chinese textbooks and language environment. I hope the survey can let more people pay attention to the characteristics of Chinese language teaching in international schools in order to promote the development of Chinese language teaching and provide some reference for future research. As a part of Chinese international education, the advantages and disadvantages of the Chinese language teaching in the international schools are worth to be studied.
