Teaching based on curriculum standards is a new field of study, aiming at bringing home to teachers the clearly defined objectives and the specific meaning of each class,thus improving teachers’ awareness and ability of teaching based on curriculum standards. This paper is focused on the exploration of reversely designing music appreciation in high school, through documentation, case study, action research and teaching practice. The article is divided into five chapters:Chapter One: Introduction this chapter centers on current research condition in this field and available research methods, as well as its originality and significance.Chapter two: Outline of teaching design based on curriculum standardsThis chapter focuses on elaborating the essence of teaching based on curriculum standards, in terms of teaching philosophy, teaching creativity and students’ development. Through analysis, it is shown that the reverse teaching design based on curriculum standards is a design pattern in which teaching objectives are first clearly defined, followed by the design of evaluation and the final design of teaching activities.Chapter three: The process of reversely designing music appreciation in high school based on curriculum standards.This chapter centers on the elaboration of reversely designing music appreciation based on curriculum standards, covering the analysis of curriculum standards, the establishing of learning objectives, the design of learning evaluation, the arrangements of teaching activities, etc., combined with case studies.Chapter four: Field study of reversely designing music appreciation in high school based on curriculum standards.Combined with the author’s teaching practice, two teaching modes aimed at music appreciation- "Experience + Practice" Learning Mode and "Comparison + Inspiration" Learning Mode are presented, with case studies attached.Chapter five: Conclusion.
