The ordinary high school curriculum reform has been implemented in all parts of Zhejiang province since September 2012. The core of the curriculum reform is to enhance the elective course construction to enable the students to develop their personality. It is significant to set up mathematics electives in the senior high schools. Under the background of the curriculum reform, how to teach the mathematics electives effectively and to solve the problems in teaching in order to achieve the requirements of the new mathematics curriculum standard has become a critical problem that needs to be solved urgently.This paper adopts the methods of the open-end interview and the questionnaire survey, and the writer elaborates the present situation of math elective courses implementation in the school. On the basis of investigation and analysis, the writer sums up the problems and difficulties about the high school math electives in the process of setting and implementation. The writer gives some constructive references and suggestions according to the reasons that have been found in the investigation and analysis.The contents of the essay are as follows. In the preface of chapter one, the writer comments on the research status at home and abroad in the field on the basis of referring to the references and practical investigation and then confirms the way to research and innovation. In chapter two, the writer states the definition, the characteristic and the meaning of the research detailedly about the math electives. In chapter three, the writer analyses the math curriculum structure and content from the theoretical angle of view. In chapter four, the writer introduces the general situation of Lishui Institute Affiliated Senior High School, the current situation of the teachers, students and the math electives system construction. The investigation and analysis is carried out by way of questionnaire surveys and open-end interviews. In chapter five, the writer points out the shortcomings and the reasons that exist in the implementation process, and then gives some measures and suggestions to the teachers and students.
