Ability is the measurement that human being explore cognize and transform the nature, is the quality that human being achieve a goal or accomplish a task. Middle school education need to cultivate students the necessary basic subject knowledge, and should pay more attention to the construction of subject ability. Geographical subject ability is an important part of scientific geography literacy. Geographical subject ability is important for middle school geography teaching. As a new auxiliary teaching medium, Digital Globe System is just launched in middle school for geography teaching. It plays an important role in cultivating geographical subject ability to date.In this study, based on the geographical subject ability cultivation for middle school, first, the author looked up and summarized the previous related studies. Then the author used questionnaires, interviews to know the current situation of cultivating geographical subject ability in middle school, and analyzed the advantages of Digital Globe System in cultivating students’geographical subject ability according to the function of Digital Globe System and the characteristics of geography. Finally, the author tried to discuss and propose some specific strategies to cultivate students’ geographical subject ability based on Digital Globe System in middle school. The thesis has three parts:the introduction, the body text and the conclusion, it is divided into six chapters, the first chapter is the introduction, the second, the third, the fourth and the fifth chapter are the body text, and the sixth chapter is the conclusion. The first chapter introduces the research background including rapid development of modern information technology, steady reformation of middle school geography curriculum and more and more emphasis of geographical subject ability, the research significance which is elaborated from the theory and practice, the research status including achievements and insufficient of Digital Globe System applied in middle school education and so on. The second chapter is an overview of the geographical subject ability, including definition (The ability to aware geographical spatial pattern; The ability to analyze, imagine and simply predict geographic process; The ability to process geographic information; The ability to solve actual problem with geography.) and important summary. The third chapter is the survey and analysis of the current situation about cultivating students’geographical subject ability in middle school. The fourth chapter is a discourse of the Digital Globe System and the middle school geography teaching including its origin, function, characteristics, advantages and significance in geography teaching. The fifth chapter put forward some principles and strategies of cultivating students’geographical subject ability based on the Digital Globe System. The sixth chapter analyzed the problems and prospects of cultivating students’geographical subject ability based on Digital Globe System in middle school.
