The Chinese classical literature which selected in high school textbooks are not only the essence of the traditional Chinese literature works, but also the emphasis and difficulty in the teaching process. The classical Chinese model essays take the responsibility of imparting classical Chinese knowledge, as well as cultivate students’ sense of identity to traditional culture. Under the guidance of the concept of new curriculum standard, different provinces choose different textbooks so as to form a teaching system with a hundred flowers bloom. Because of the differences of the textbook editors’ concept and text-selection standards, classical Chinese in different versions of textbooks presents divergent styles. The essay take the most widely used textbook of PEP edition and the unique Jiangsu version as the research object, using comparative method, statistical method and literature research method, to compare the differences between two versions in the writing style,structure, content selection and writing methods etc, provide valuable advice for editor improving textbooks and teacher teaching, through the horizontal analysis of two versions of the system of classical Chinese model essays.This essay will using four parts to prove the point. The first part shows the current situation of Chinese classical literature which in the various versions of Chinese high school literature text book. Then this part analyses the prospects and the significance of the Chinese classical literature. The second part is the overall analysis of the Chinese classical literature systems in two main versions of Chinese high school literature text book. The PEP edition is more likely using both of traditional translation and modern translation to explain the meaning to students. The Jiangsu version takes more points on researching the author’s thinking. The third part analyses the different between two versions from the quantity and quality. The fourth partmakes conclusion and gives suggestions about the compile of Chinese classical literature in the PEP edition and the Jiangsu version.Through comparing the Chinese classical literature in two versions from the compile and content, it can help students easily to learn Chinese classical literature. It can also help teachers to control the time in class, and it make a example for redacting new text book, then to improve the Chinese classical literature teaching.
