English curriculum contains both the instrumental and humanity characters, also it has the connotation of all-round development. Penetrating the ecological knowledge in teaching reading can improve students’ overall and humanity qualities. At the same time, it perfects and extends the all-round development connotation of English teaching.By doing this research, the author tires to solve the following research questions. Firstly, what’s the current situation of ecological knowledge permeation in teaching reading, and what kind of problems exist there? Secondly, how to penetrate the ecological knowledge in the reading class, in other words, what are the permeation ways? Thirdly, how does the application of permeation ways in reading class work? How do they affect students’ ecological awareness and behavior? To solve the research problems, the author firstly through classroom observation, referring to the domestic and international classroom environment scale, also using the eco-linguistic theory to analyze the teaching objectives, teachers and students’ language in class. At the same time, analyzing the interviews of teachers and students to learn more about the current situation of ecological knowledge permeation in reading class. Then, the author explores that how to penetrate the ecological knowledge in the reading class by teaching practice. Furthermore, the paper also shows some examples of teaching design and three typical ecology knowledge permeation cases in practical teaching. The three practical teaching cases are carried out by three different types of reading classes and they respectively emphasize on cultivating students’ concept of eco-friendly travel 、eco-environment protection and eco-cultural resources protection. And finally, the author tries to evaluate how the permeation ways affect students’ ecological awareness and behavior in reading class by comparing the interview results.Through doing this research, the author has come to the following findings. Firstly, the English teaching emphasizes more on cultivating students’ language knowledge and language skills, less on students’ overall qualities, the current situation of ecological knowledge permeation in teaching reading is even weak. Secondly, through two-month teaching practice, the author has concluded 14 specific permeation ways which are benefit for improving students’ ecological qualities in reading class. And the specific ways respectively belong to the pre-class, while-class and after-class activities. Last, the paper finds that by the implementation of the specific ecology knowledge permeation ways, the English reading class becomes fresher and the specific ways also are more feasible and effective. Furthermore, it is benefit for cultivating students’ ecological awareness, creating students’ good ecological behaviors and establishing students’ correct ecological values.
