Academic delay of gratification(ADOG) refers to students’ willingness to postpone immediately reward opportunities to satisfy impulses in favor of academic goals that are temporally remote but ostensibly more valuable. This research is aiming at high school students ADOG distribution and performance in different academic achievements, analyzing mechanisms and factors such as etacognition, Impulsivity, Temperaments and etc. The research can contribute to ADOG research in theory and provide data and advice to education in practice. The first part is ADOG traits distribution research targeted at 338 senior one students distributed in 4 academic achievements groups for investigation research and 152 senior one students in 2 academic achievement groups for experiment research. The second part of the research is ADOG influencing factors research including Metacognition, Impulsivity, Temperament conducted by investigating and interviewing 495 students in 3 grades and in 5 academic achievement groups. Key results are listed bellow:1. High school students ADOG follow normal distribution.2. There is a significant difference between different academic achievement groups that ADOG level of high academic achievement group is significantly higher than that of low academic achievement group.3. Metacognition and Impulsivity are significantly correlated to ADOG. Some features often predict ADOG such as planning Impulsiveness, Metacognition Adjustment and Metacognition Planning.4.There is a significant difference between ADOG high and low groups in temperament that sanguineous and phlegmatic temperament can often predict ADOG5. There is no sexual difference in high school ADOG scale research. There is sexual difference in the experiment that female ADOG level is significantly higher than male level.
