| China’s English teaching belongs to the foreign language sector. Students lack a practical environment in which to study. Text data is much more widely used in the classroom than audio-visual materials. Reading has become the main method of learning English for Chinese English learners. In addition, the importance of reading also can be reflected in the various forms of the English exams. Thus, English reading teaching is highly focused on among schools and teachers. However, there is no specific ‘English reading class’ in high school, so the students are still lacking proper English reading training.With the development of technology, a new video teaching model- micro lecture has become a popular phenomenon in educational research area and application area. Micro lecture, as a new kind of curriculum resource, is short and effective. It injects new energy into the development and advancement of education and teaching. This study has provided a more systematic and comprehensive review of the related study of micro lecture. The author has dedicated this research to examine whether micro lecture can play a catalytic role in high school English reading classes.There are two research question of the thesis:1. Can micro lecture significantly improve students’ English reading achievements?2. What are students’ attitudes towards the effect of micro lecture on their reading learning?The teaching experiment lasted from September to December in 2015. The author chose two parallel classes of grade 1 from No.3 High School in Liaoyang. The two classes were selected as control class and experiment class. Test, questionnaire and interview are the research instruments of the experiment. After the experiment was conducted and the data was analyzed by SPSS, it was shown that in the two classes after the micro lecture was applied students had a much greater interest in English reading. Students’ English reading ability also improved. The conclusion showed us : The micro lecture can significantly improve students’ English reading achievements and interest. And students have positive attitude to the application of micro lecture to English reading class. |
