It’s necessary for teachers to analyze the textbook before starting to teach. The analysis of the textbook should include several parts, first is the knowledge in the book. Second is the method. Third is how to teach the students. Why do we need to analyze the Textbook? Textbook is the most important educational material, it’s the main one to support the teaching and studying. And it makes teachers and student to be more close when they are in class. During the time of the developing of the curriculum, more and more teachers start to realize that knowledge is not the only thing to teach, but the method is more necessary and important for the students to learn. It’s helpful for the student to develop their abilities of study and research in science if they are able to use the correct method to solve the problem. Otherwise few teachers are able to teach the student how to study or how to solve the problem, most of them just tell the student what it is, thus, students cannot know why it is. The reason can be that teachers do not know how to analyze the textbook, and that makes them understand the book hardly. That’the reason why we need to build up a model of analysis of the textbook to tell teachers in troubles how to proper the teaching, and how to analyze the textbook successfully.Three levels model of analysis of the teaching materials is based on the requirements and recommendations of the new curriculum standards. The analysis begin with the study aim, and then find out the main questions and problems that should be solved during the teaching activity. Finally try to excavate the scientific methods and thoughts which are hidden in the textbook. The model will help teachers to understand the intention of the textbooks and to do a better teaching design. And it will tell teacher how to use this kind of model to do the analysis by some examples, and teachers can build up a new model of analysis of textbook like this one by themselves if it’s necessary.This essay will have five parts, firstly we will talk about the background of the research as well as the questions to be solve and the methods we will use. Secondly, we will talk about the basic knowledge of the analysis of textbook and the researches which have done nowadays. Thirdly, that will be the model we build up. We will tell the details and the way to use it. Fourthly, we will try to give some examples of using this model to analyze the science textbook, which is helpful for the reader to understand the model well. Finally, we will give some advices to teachers on the ways to analyze the textbook and do a good design of teaching.
