As the stage of enlightenment in the compulsory education, the junior stage of primary school is an important stage to cultivate students’ interest in writing and lay the foundation of composition. The primary task of this stage is to temper student’s ability of observation, simulate their desire to express and promote their practical capability on this basis. Therefore, how to help teachers to improve the teaching efficiency in picture talking and writing in this stage, cultivate pupils’ interest in speaking and writing is the key of the current teaching research in this regard.On the basis of drawing on the existing research results, this paper made investigation and analysis of the selection, compilation of picture talking and writing in the junior stage of primary school, explored the main problems existing in this regard, and proposed the corresponding improvement strategies to the misunderstanding of the current teaching activities. It aimed to enrich the practical and theoretical research of picture talking and writing in the early stage, improve the teaching quality of talking and writing, thus laying the foundation for the subsequent composition writing teaching and promoting the development of students’ comprehensive language proficiency. This paper mainly consists of four parts:Part one describes the current status of teaching and research, makes combing and conclusion of related domestic and overseas picture talking and writing literature and defines the related concepts of picture talking and writing.Part two regards the module of picture talking and writing in the Chinese textbook of junior stage of primary school as the research object and discusses the characteristics and existing problems of the text compilation.Part three carries out investigation and analysis of the teaching status and practical problem of the current picture talking and writing in the Chinese textbook of junior stage of primary school, collects the students’ information of four aspects, namely, the degree of fondness, value expectation, material selection and the acceptance of teacher’s evaluation related to picture talking and writing. Through investigation, the teaching mainly has the misunderstanding in three aspects, including the misunderstanding of teaching objective, misunderstanding of teaching process and misunderstanding of teaching evaluation.Part four proposes the corresponding feasible suggestions for the deficiencies of textbook selection and compilation as well as three misunderstandings in teaching. First, more attention needs to be paid to the proportion and requirements of picture talking and writing in teaching material selection and compilation, and refer to the pictures and aesthetics of picture book; second, the setting of teaching objectives needs to highlight the scientificness and pertinence; third, teachers needs to take the initiative to develop textbooks, intersperse situation, accumulate language and graft picture book; finally, teachers are recommended to implement a variety of evaluation methods and use individualized evaluation language.
