Research On The Relationship Between Higher Education Investment And Regional Economic Development Along The Yangtze River Economic Belt

When the world economic growth continues to slowdown and China’s economy is in a critical period of the "new normal", the government is committed to relying on the golden waterway to promote the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, building a new economic support belt in china. The eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China puts forward that the scientific and technological innovation is the strategic support to improve the social productive forces and overall national strength. It should be placed in the core position of the country’s overall development. Therefore, it is quite essential to accelerate the development of innovation and development along the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The input of higher education plays a key role in the development of higher education. Higher education contributes to the formation of regional human capital while the regional human capital accumulation is the guarantee for the development of regional economic innovation. So, it has important theoretical and practical significance to study the relationship between higher education investment and regional economic development along the Yangtze River Economic Belt.In this study, the relationship between higher education investment and regional economic development along the Yangtze River Economic Belt is the main line of the research. Based on relevant research at home and abroad, this thesis uses literature research method to study higher education investment and regional economic development along the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Longitudinal evolution and horizontal comparison analysis is put to describes the current status. Comprehensive evaluation method and econometric analysis methods are put into empirical research on the relationship between them. The main conclusions are: first, theoretically, there has a mutual influence between the investment of higher education and the development of regional economy. Second, as the Comprehensive evaluation shows the levels of economic development in various provinces and cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt are as follows: Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Chongqing, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Anhui,Yunnan,Guizhou. Third, the manpower and material resources investment in higher education is the Grainger reason of economic development along the Yangtze River Economic Belt and there exists a reciprocal causation relationship between higher education financial input and the economic development. Fourth, there is a dynamic co-integration relationship between higher education investment and economic development, and the long-term effect is greater than the short-term fluctuations.Finally, according to the development status and research conclusions of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Countermeasures and suggestions mainly include: first, to innovate the higher education investment mechanism and enhance the vitality of economic development. Second, to coordinate the investment mode of higher education and optimize the structure of economic development. Third, to focus on green investment in higher education and lead the quality of economic development. Fourth, to open up higher education investment channels and expand the scale of economic development. Finally, to share the achievements of higher education development, and promote the development of economic transformation. Only in this way, can it be a good reference to the relationship between the investment of higher education and the development of regional economy.
