Social Work Involved In The Development Of Children In Families With Disabilities

There are a series of problems in the development of children in families with disabilities, which include physical mental development problems, personality problems, ideological and moral problems, learning and educational problems, and obtaining external resourcesproblems. Children are the future of the motherland and represent the hope of the whole nation. Parents are the first teacher of children. The quality of family education will directly affect the growth of children. Thel8th National Congress of the Communist Party of China points out that great attention should be paid to seek a livelihood interests, to relieve the sorrow of the livelihood of the people, to solve the problems that people are most concerned about, and tocare about the most direct and realistic interests. A great deal of progress needs to be made in education, employment, medical and old-age care. Meanwhile, lots of efforts need to be devoted to making people live a better life.Currently, China has various disabled policies such as the policy of guaranteeing and subsidised. However, they did not actually solve many problems thatchildren in families with disabilitiesface during their growing up. For example, children’s language, walking education, and their health needs are not met. As a scientific way to help people, social work provides professional services and humane care. Social work is based on altruism, scientific knowledge, and scientific methods, conducting the helping service activities. Social work has the ability to assume the responsibility for the well-being of children in families with disabilities and to help them grow up healthily. This paper uses Village Wugou in Anhui Province as an example, visiting, doing researches and questionnaires, as well as collecting and analyzing data on the current situation of those families.According to some social theories related to children’s development, a series of problems exist in the current growth situation of children in families with disabilities. Firstly, lacking of resources in those families leads to lifesecurity issues. Secondly, disability among family members results in the unable to live a normal life and to learn. Meanwhile, children in those families lack of normal parental care and parenting issues. Thirdly, long-term control makes them live in a small space and lack normal socialization. As a result, those children lacks correct self-consciousness and the knowledge to formself-image. Meanwhile, social discrimination against disabled people makes those children have low self-esteem in the process of their growth. Facing these agency problems which exist in those children, social work needs to be donein this field. The author will use some learned social work to analyze the feasibility of intervention. In order toprovide a healthy environment, it is necessary to use social work administration, social case work, group work, social work and the livelihood of the people project to get involved in those children to solve practical problems during their growing up.
