English teachers professional development guarantees the improvement of students learning efficiency. The keys of improving teachers teaching quality are related with professional knowledge, professional skills as well as other knowledge.During the past years, people put more attention on teacher’s self-development and improvement in the ability of feedback and action research. However, the significant influence of school environment on English teachers’ professional development is neglected unintentionally.This paper researches the English teachers professional development from the aspects of school environment. The three key factors,leaders notion, school culture,and English teachers collaboration are researched. The purpose of this paper is to describe the connection between professional development and school environment and have a better understanding in principal’s notion, school culture and teachers cooperation. The key elements of teachers professional development affected by school environment are analyzed through interview, observation and questionnaire.The outcome of the research show that the three elements interact each other. For example, a principal with advanced notion must create the atmosphere benefiting for teachers professional development, thus beneficial to the school culture.School culture promotes teachers professional development. School system is reformed and teaching quality is improved through teachers professional development.
