"Professional Development" is currently a widely studied topic home and abroad. To better carry out educational reform, improve education quality, both from the government and school level, or from the teacher level, no area can involve academy, practice and policy on such large scale as teachers’professional development. This study overviews the related theories concerning the professional development of politics teachers, namely the foundation of it, its three types of mechanism and the setting of it. And I intend to do mechanism and environmental research of the professional development of politics teachers through answering those questions. The study consists of five parts:Chapter One:Introduction. The chapter focuses on the origin, the theoretical value and practical significance of the study, in conjunction with the related researches on teachers’professional development conducted by domestic and foreign academic circles. Finally, specific research ideas and research methods of this study will be given.Chapter Two:definition related to the professional development of politics teachers. This chapter defines the terms "professional" and "professional development" respectively.Chapter Three:the foundation of the professional development of politics teachers. The author illustrates that the primary basis is professionalism. While the necessary basis lies in their professional knowledge, their professional competence is the indispensible part. The professional development of politics teachers cannot be achieved without any one of all those three respects.Chapter Four:mechanism of politics teachers’professional development. Teachers develop their expertise through self-reflection, peer support, and professional guidance. There are different types of self-reflection, precautions and writing style. Peer support mainly consists of the employment apprenticeship and school teaching and research institution; while at the same time, a series of safeguard measures are needed to make peer support happen. Experts can play an irreplaceable role in putting self-reflection and peer support into full play.Chapter Five:politics teachers’professional development environment. Writer probes into the environment to promote the professional development of politics teachers from the state government system, training college cultivation, and high school management. State government system refers to the laws, regulations and policies to ensure teachers’development and provide a favorable environment for them. In the training college session, focus should be put on normal students’profession ethics education; and the need to strengthen the construction of the team of qualified teachers. As to school management, we need to carry out school-based training research, explore curriculum resources, and strengthen the evaluation and supervision according to the school reality, giving full play to the role of the learning community, and promoting politics teachers’professional development.Conclusion:the politics teachers’professional development research developed in this paper is composed of four parts:the professional development of its content, foundation, mechanism and environment. In the field of teachers’professional development research, there are other research orientations pending further discussion. It should be noted that there are limitations in this research project due to author’s limited academic competence and practical experience.
