With the implementation of basic education reform in our country, the curriculum reform in senior high school also starts successfully. The curriculum reform has large adjustment in such aspects as curriculum concept and curriculum structure. In 2003, "the average high school Chinese course standard(experiment) ",which was promulgated by the Ministry of Education, caused a new change in Chinese curriculum in senior high school. In this curriculum reform, the construction of Chinese elective course is the largest and most innovative project. As is known to us, the elective course is full of diversification and individuation; this has been the most successful aspect of the curriculum reform. But because we have little experience about the design and practice of Chinese elective course in senior high school, so there are some big problems in the concrete teaching process, particularly in the elective course about the ancient poems. Although many poems was studied in the literature, but the information about the ancient poems in elective course in senior high school is few. So this article is aimed at the preliminary study on the teaching strategies, which is about the ancient poems in Chinese elective course in senior high school in PEP edition. This article gets the points of view of the teachers and students in the senior high schools in Luoyang by using questionnaire and interview. Then it puts up some constructive suggestions in order to cause the first-line teachers focus on the teaching of the ancient poems in Chinese elective course in senior high school,improve the teaching efficiency of the ancient poems of elective course and cultivate students’ abilities of finding, feeling and appreciating the beauty of the ancient poems.,and improving teaching quality.This article is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction; it mainly contains the research background,research contents, research methods and significance of the topic. This part illustrates the research of the topic in the aspects of urgency, feasibility, creativity. The research content is the questionnaire about some points of views, which are presented by the teachers in more than 30 senior high schools in Luoyang. In addition to questionnaire,there are methods of data analysis, literature research and case analysis. It elaborates the theoretical and practical significance of the research result of the topic.The second part points out that the classical poems play a dominant role in Chinese elective course teaching in senior high school. First it compares the ancient poems in elective and compulsory teaching material, and then it illustrates the poems play a dominant role in Chinese elective course teaching in senior high school. Finally,from the aspects of teaching, it lists some relative classroom activities and tells the difference of the ancient poems in compulsory course and elective course.The third part analyzes the present teaching situation of the ancient poems in Chinese elective course in senior high school. This part finds the present teaching situation of the ancient poems in Chinese elective course in senior high school through the analysis of the questionnaire, and then analyzes the causes of this situation and gives some advice from the perspectives of teachers, students and evaluation system, in order to improve the current situation of teaching of the ancient poems in Chinese elective course.The fourth part is about the study on the teaching strategies of the ancient poems in Chinese elective course in senior high school. From the aspects of “selecting”and ”learning”, this part, combining specific teaching cases, studies the teaching strategies of the ancient poems in Chinese elective course in PEP edition.The last part concludes the whole text and calls for our attention to the teaching of the ancient poems in Chinese elective course in senior high school.
