Lead-in is the initial procedure in middle school Chinese class and the key element in Chinese teaching of different levels. All Chinese teacher have always been attached great importance to the lead-in teaching process, they make painstaking efforts to design the lead-in methods for every single class with the hope that, under the guidance and inspiration of a good lead-in process, the students may have an easy access to the teaching materials and obtain more knowledge. The successful lead-in process can double the teaching effect and at the same time bring about good effect happen unexpected in the class. The lead-in teaching method is a branch of science developed on the basis of the study of the predecessors. As the realization on the increasing importance of the method, more and more people begin to study the subject and enable those theory developed with growing maturity. The lead-in teaching method is also a king of skill or craftsmanship which not only require abundant knowledge accumulation and delicate handling of the method but also consistent investigation and perfection in the teaching practice. The lead-in teaching methods in middle school Chinese class are varied and different teacher will choose the different ones. But all those used are for the purpose to enhance quality of teaching and motivate the enthusiasm of the students. It’s necessary to attach great importance to the leading element of the class---the participation of the students, while it’s the responsibility of the teacher to take the advantage of the exact situation of the class, exploit to the full of students’ advantages and avoid unfavorable ones, and simultaneously renew, adjust and change the lead-in methods so as to improve the quality and effect of the individual lecture.Based on the theories of new National Curriculum Standard, the thesis aims to study the basic theories, structures, basic functions and principle of the lead-in in Chinese class. The focus will fall upon the methods and skills frequently used in the Chinese class and the presentation of the successful teaching cases and at the same time some cautions, common mistakes will occur on this issue will be teased out and discussed so as to achieve the purpose to separate the chaff from the wheat. All in all, the ultimate purpose of the study is to help Chinese teachers organize the lead-in teaching process effectively, keep the students to concentrate on the study, raise their study interests, stimulate their strong appetite for knowledge and participate actively in the teaching activity. And then, the unique teaching skills of Chinese teaching characterized with the charm of touching, fascinating and the mingling of rationality and emotion will finally be revealed, with which a positive interaction of teacher and students and a maximum of learning effect will be achieved so as to fulfill the target of Chinese teaching.
