With the development of competency theory and the national attention to teaching staff of vocational education, some researchers begin to pay attention to the problem of teaching competency of vocational education teachers. However, the research results hardly show the unique content and structure of teaching competency of vocational education teachers. In view of the research objective being the teachers in secondary vocational schools, this paper will study teaching competency of the secondary vocational teachers systematically. The level of teaching competency of the secondary vocational teachers is the important premise of cultivating technique talents and its development plays a significant role of teaching quality of schools. Therefore, it has guiding significance for discussing teaching competency of the secondary vocational teachers to the professional development of teachers as well as to provide reference for recruitment, performance appraisal, teachers’ training and salary management.This paper uses literature research and questionnaire survey,and summarize and analyze the existing research results of the secondary vocational teachers’ teaching competency. On the basis of these, it designs questionnaire about teaching competency and carries out a survey for secondary vocational teachers several schools in Guangzhou and Shenzhen and then adapts SPSS19.0 statistical software to analyze the survey data. This paper mainly explores the recessive factors of secondary vocational teachers’ teaching competency, and analyzes them, then puts forward effective solutions. The research shows that the overall level of secondary vocational teachers’ teaching competence is good, and the recessive factors of secondary vocational teachers’ teaching competency are composed of teaching temperament,teaching experience, professional quality, while the teaching temperament occupies an important position in the development of secondary vocational teachers’ teaching competency.Based on the research results and related thoughts, this paper puts forward solutions to make the recessive factors of secondary vocational teachers’ teaching competency explicit.The recessive factors feature with individuality, situation as well as irrational expression.Therefore, during the process of realizing secondary vocational teachers’ teaching competency,the solutions to make the recessive factors explicit and efficiently improve teaching competency of secondary vocational teachers mainly include exploring from two aspects of“by self” and “by others”. “By self” means the secondary vocational teachers should imposerecessive learning and teaching reflection by consciously, while “by others” means schools should establish sharing recessive incentive mechanism and create the shared platform.
