The utility of middle school students is a universal, common image, but few people are concerned, this study adopts literature research method, action research method, experience method and investigation method, first traces the utilitarian reading source, aims to show that the utilitarian reading has existed for a long time, and then listed the utilitarian performance in the classroom and reading, analyzes its characteristics and the subjective and objective reasons, find out the root cause students utilitarian reading, on this basis, this study also dialectical analysis of the advantages and defects of students’ Utilitarian reading, and put forward as Chinese teachers treat students utilitarian attitude, should have read finally, in view of utilitarian bring adverse effects to the students reading, this study also puts forward coping strategies in middle school students. And finally some suggestions and measures are put forward in the aspects of classroom teaching, Chinese activity and the evaluation of the value of emotional attitude.
