| Nowadays, we greatly advocate extensive reading. It’s good for students to extend horizons to teach students to carry on extensive reading in Chinese, but there are also many problems in this process, which restricts how we take up extensive reading in order. The extensive teaching for ancient poems has been carried on during which teachers should improve methods to solve the problems. Therefore, we should put forward effective solutions after careful study and the analysis. It takes less time to expand teaching but more tasks. Teachers may not reach the expected teaching aims because of uncertain requirements and optional teaching designs. It’s necessary to make sure of the reading content and find out proper teaching methods without burden to students.The author made a survey at No.3 Middle School by means of ask-and-answer papers, talks, observation, and looking through lots of documentaries. I made a conclusion, studying the general situation and personal differences in Jingyu No.3 Middle School. Finally I find out the successful cases of extensive teaching in ancient poems along with the problems as well as the internal relationship between learning the ancient poetry recently and the extensive teaching. I also analyze the kinds of reasons and various solutions by talking with parts of teachers and students. What I concentrate on is how to increase the interest of studying these old poems and enlarge the excellent ones to help students to build up their culture base. Meanwhile, I pay more attention to how to change teachers’teaching methods and improve the quality of class.
