For primary school students, the grade three is the beginning stage of learning English. During this stage, a series of problems are showed constantly. There are many pupils who are in the same intelligence and ability level, having difference in English learning gradually after setting up the English class in grade three. Many students lose their interest in English learning and gradually appearing some phenomena, such as they fear of having English class and losing their confidence which lead the problems like having difficulties of learning English and poor English achievement. There is a problem that need to be solved by scholars is what is the reason cause students appearing this phenomenon. At the same time, how to improve the students’ English learning condition, and how to lay a good foundation for the future of English learning has become the content we have to pay attention to. In accordance with the requirements of the development of the pupil’s physical and mental characteristics, we should attach importance to pupils’ learning adaptability. Now the primary school education is still pay more attention to student academic performance and ignore the research on the adaptability of the students. So this paper takes the breakthrough point based on the research of adaptability of pupils’ English learning to research the current situation of pupils’ learning adaptability. The significance of this study is to investigate the pupils’ English learning adaptability condition and reasons, also exploring the ways and methods to improve their English learning adaptability, and provide a teaching reference of front line English teachers.This paper mainly adopts literature method, questionnaire survey, interview and classroom observation and other research methods, through the research it found that the pupils of grade three in English learning adaptability have following problems:(1) The overall adaptation of Grade three students is general. And the adaptation of English learning is affected by learning environment. (2) The English learning attitude adaptation of Grade three is general. And the learning motivations and interests restrict the adaptation of English learning attitude. (3) The English learning techniques adaptation of Grade three is general. And the strategies of resource management restrict the students’ English learning techniques adaptation. (4) The English learning environment adaptation of Grade three is general. And the adaptation is affected by the classroom environment and peer relations, restricts the students’ English learning environment. (5) The physical and mental healthy adaptation of Grade three is general. And it is affected by the learning anxiety.The reasons that English learning adaption is not good are as follows:(1) the students’ intellectual tendency differences, poor self-control and the selfish, strong personality, high self-esteem, the comparative and competitive heart characteristics, the students learning style and academic achievement and confidence are the personal reasons which affect the students’ adaptation of learning English. (2) the teachers’ teaching attitudes, the instruction of learning strategies, the focus of student’s learning characteristics, individualized quality education, the guidance and establishment of good relationships with fellows for mutual learning are factors of school which affect students’ adaptation of learning attitude, learning technologies, learning environmental, physical and mental health.(3) The families focus on the students’ academic performance too much and their high expectations impact students’ learning motivations, learning mood, which affects the students’ adaption of learning attitude. (4) The family cannot provide instructions of learning strategies, which influences the students’ adaption of English learning technology. (5) Financial support, learning environment support and emotional sympathy of families affect the students’ adaption of learning environment, physical and mental health and learning anxiety.In view of the existing problems, the following suggestions are put forward:(1) In the level student:First of all, students should improve their autonomy in English learning process. Then, students should constantly cultivate a positive attitude towards English learning. Finally, student should grasp the effective method of English learning. At last, the students should enhance their confidence and willpower. (2) In the level of school:Teachers should provide the guidance of English learning strategies for primary school students, and pay attention to the development of each student, also should respect the individual differences of students. English teachers should improve the self accomplishment. School should provide more training opportunities for teachers, carry out various activities for the students, and focus on the development of pupils’ physical and mental healthy. (3)In the level of parent:First, parents should continue to improve their ability, and establish correct concept of education. Then, parents should create a better English learning environment for their children. Finally, parents should lead to reduce the requirement properly of students.
