The Current Situation And Strategies Of Building High School Culture

School education must be changed as the rapid development of science and technology and the transformation from industrial economy era to knowledge economy era. It needs to apply the new education teaching model to cultivate talents that meet the requirements of information society and modern economic development. It also needs to put to use the new culture concept to educate the new generations. Problems such as how to guide the high school students to build positive values, how to help teenagers to form the healthy personality, how to establish the humanism spirit of the high school, how to inherit the traditional Chinese virtues and develop the advanced culture of socialism are closely related to the school culture.The thesis gives definitions about positive school culture based on the literature review, makes analyses and evaluations of spiritual culture by the content analysis method based on data gathered from 96 high school websites of Jiangsu province, makes use of case-study methods to summarize the culture of four famous high school, and expounds the necessities of positive school culture before putting forward to effective ways of shaping positive school culture. Finally, the thesis draws the following conclusions:(1) school culture consists of five elements, they are school environment, school values, the stories of the successful or great person who had made contributions to his school, rituals and ceremonies of school, and cultural network of school.(2) school culture has a weak correlation with school ranking.(3) the content of shaping positive school culture include the effective culture, shared culture, multi-culture, principle leading culture, and study community culture etc.
