With the continuous development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, Chinese character teaching,as a component of the whole job, has also drawn more and more attentions, and the primary phase of it is the foundation for students to learn Chinese characters system, its importance is self-evident.To improve the teaching effect of Chinese character teaching is particularly important, but the present status of Chinese character teaching is that it becomes the "short board" of teaching Chinese as a foreign language for the reason of hug difficulty but little effect.Despite the shortcoming of Chinese characters itself, the teachers are not comprehensive, improper teaching methods and some other reasons which can not be ignored all contribute to this situation.Thai students, whose mother tongue language is just used to express its pronunciation, after accustomed to the text of the linear array, could just regard Chinese characters which are made to show the meaning as a few lines of pile and irregular while writing. Using the method of components, separating character into parts makes the number of strokes less than the whole character.Component,which can be named,as a memory unit could greatly reduced the difficulty of the learners’ cognitive and memory, eased their burden. What’s more,most of the components also has the function of expressing their meanings so that the learner could speculate a new word’s meaning category through the already known components. It is beneficial to cultivate the students’ perception sense of "word" and promising to facilitate their future Chinese character learning.This paper regards the the primary stage of local Thailand Chinese learners as the teaching objects, separating 94 characters which are extract from the new words table of the teaching material "Happy Chinese" into 101 components as teaching contents.And mainly using the method of components while teaching Chinese characters. Considering the school does not have a special Chinese characters course, so a Chinese characters teaching project about 15 minutes was set up in every comprehensive course in order to practice the method of components.The teaching plan is also designed according to it. Consulted with the students’ classroom performance and written feedback, at the end of the teaching behavior with evaluating the effectiveness of teaching,reflecting the advantages and limitations of the teaching,and raising some immature suggestions to the primary stage of teaching Chinese characters.
