On Teaching Chinese Characters To Thai Primary Chinese Learners

For a long time,second language learners generally reflect that the learning of Chinese characters is a very difficult part of C hinese learning.And the teaching of Chinese characters is also in a weak position in Teaching of C hinese as a Second Language.Thailand is not a country that belongs to the Chinese culture circle,the Thai language belongs to the phonetic alphabet,which is very different from the Chinese character.For the learners of Thai primary Chinese proficiency,learning Chinese characters is a very difficult process.Based on the author's teaching experience in Somdejphrapiyamaharajrommaneeyakhet school,t his thesis discusses teaching C hinese characters to Thai primary C hinese learners.So that local Chinese teachers can better carry out teaching work.It also strives to help students learn Chinese characters better.In the seven-month teaching of C hinese in Somdejphrapiyamaharajrommaneeyakhet school,the author found that there are many problems in learning C hinese characters in Thai primary Chinese learners.This thesis adopts error analysis method,questionnaire survey method and teaching feedback method.The author collected first-hand data on the errors of C hinese characters which are made by students.On the basis of the theory of error analysis,a statistical analysis is made on the type of Chinese characters errors written by Thai primary Chinese learner.Generally there are seven types of errors: increase of Strokes,Stroke loss,Stroke deformation,lack of parts,change parts,change of component position,Stroke order bias.The type of bias is mainly concentrated in the stroke deformation.Based on the theory of intermediary language and the previous teaching experience,the analysis shows that the main reason for the writing errors is that Chinese teachers have insufficient explanation of Chinese characters.Chinese textbooks interfere with students' learning of C hinese characters.Negative transfer of mother tongue is also reason.Students are not motivated to learn Chinese characters,they often avoid Chinese characters learning.In order to correct the above errors,the thesis puts forward the solution strategy.We believe that the solutions to these errors are mainly from two aspects: school and Chinese teachers.Firstly,the school should arrange the Chinese character courses reasonably;provide basic hardware equipment;select the appropriate teaching materials for Chinese characters;Secondly,teachers should choose the appropriate teaching method,to improve students' interest in learning Chinese characters and so on.Based on the analysis of the types,causes and solutions of C hinese characters writing errors,the author provides a complete case of C hinese teaching design.The author hopes to provide some practical help to the teaching C hinese characters to primary Chinese learners in Thailand.
