Large numbers of rapid renovation of knowledge and new things make lifelong learning become a challenge and requirement for the talent in information era. Internet, multimedia and the continuous development of information technology have a profound effect on-changing people’s learning, communication and lifestyle. Under this background, the form of distance learning, as an important means to achieve their academic education after grade, non-academic education and lifelong learning, has been agreed and chosen by more and more working adults.Adult’s distance Learning is mainly based on self-learning backed by resource. Therefore, stimulating and maintaining the status of learner motivation largely determine the success or failure of distance learning. So in order to better stimulate, maintain and strengthen the adult distance learning motivation, how to play the advantages of distance education will become a major problem in this article. The research method of this paper combines theory and practice and the parts are as follows:In the introduction part, it is the summary and analysis of the research background, significance, research methods and related research achievements at home and abroad.The second part is the theoretical research on adult distance learning motivation. The author clarify the core concepts involved in the relevant research and present the theoretical foundation and guidance through three aspects:learning from adults, distance learning, adult learning motivation. Finally, by referencing the "time continuum’ motivation design model of Raymond J Wlodkowski and integrating the current theoretical outcome and adult distance learning research situation, the author try building upon a theoretical framework of guiding the study and practical investigation in the motivation of adult distance learning.The third part is the investigation in motivation of adult distance learning under the guidance of the theory. By the combined use of questionnaires and interviews, the status of adult distance learning motivation will be presented in three stages. Besides, and a profound analysis of the real obstacles constraining Adult Distance Learning Motivation, maintenance and strengthening in different stages of learning will be showed.The fourth part is the theoretical study of countermeasures based on analysis and practice research. On the basis of theoretical guidance and practice of research, this paper tries making the focused motivation strategy throughout the whole process of distance learning.
