With the development of information technology,modern distance educationhas become a new way of education, it is an important means of constructing lifelonglearning system, in the form of learning society and promoting people’s all-rounddevelopment and play a decisive role. In recent years, with the popularization ofInternet, the use of network distance education in China has been developing rapidly,and has made remarkable achievements. Network education is the teacher and thestudent in the space-time in the relative separation of state, this leads to learners innetwork learning must give full play to the initiative, autonomous learning. Coupledwith the currently accepted network education mostly go to work for adult learners.Therefore, for adult learners in autonomous learning under the network environmentthe ability to conduct a comprehensive, systematic study has great theoretical andpractical significance.The present study from distance education background, theoretical significance,practical significance, research methods and other aspects, and from the relevanttheory research, application research on self-regulated learning model, autonomouslearning ability in the concept, influencing factors, research study at home and abroadin terms of distance open education research summarize and analysis. Distanceeducation learners’ autonomous learning support service feature, under theenvironment of distance open education, the connotation of autonomous learning foradult students under the environment of Distance Open Education Learners basiccharacteristics were described, found from the current distance education learners arethe following: entrance weak basis, learning style, learning not to have the crisis, lackof intrinsic factor learning interest, learning efficiency can not be guaranteed, unableto adapt to the variety of learning resources, relationship between teachers andstudents, uncertainty among learners lack of effect.The research has carried on the reason analysis with the view of the abovequestions, and to enhance learners’ inherent adaptability, strengthening of independentlearning external support, establishing a plurality of students learning evaluationsystem and other three aspects put forward the corresponding countermeasureproposal.
