Teenagers’ ideological and political education relates to the success of the socialism causewith Chinese characteristics, future of the country, and hope of the nation. Middle school is t he important period that teenagers gradually form the outlook on life, values and the world. So tos trengthen middle school students’ ideological and political education is particularly important.The red spirit is the advanced culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It trulyportrays Chinese Communist Party leading Chinese people to fight for independence and liberation of the nation, the rich and strong of the country. It highly generates firm revolut ionary belief of revolutionary martyr, quality of seeking truth from facts, good style of arduo us struggle and self-reliance, aim of serving people wholeheartedly and patriotism of selfle ss dedication,so it is a kind of naturally high qualified education resource,and has unique funct ion in ideological and political education. Utilizing red spirit to creatively implement middle s chool ideological and political education can improve the quality of its educators and enrich i ts contents,extend its mediation, and create good education environment, lead the middle sc h o o l stu d e n t s ’ sp i ri t u a l gro w t h, en h a n c e it s ap p e a l an d pe rs u a s io n.On the basis of analyzing the situation of ideological and political education in middle school with reference to reception theory of accepts, this article uses literature method, survey meth od, experience method and theoretical derivation method to further explore the education qual ities of red spirit and its function to ideological and political education, From aspects of promo ting red spirit into campus, into community, and promoting red resources covering net, thi s article explores effective way of strengthening red spirit function in ideological and politica l education for middle school students. At the same time, it introduces several schools’ typica l practices of ideological and political education for middle school students.
