Objective: To explore the distribution of the depression and interpersonal sensitivity and its influencing factors, the correlation between depression and interpersonal sensitivity, and the effect of group psychological counseling of humanistic orientation on depression and interpersonal sensitivity in junior high school students of Zunyi city. Methods: All the students were randomly selected from two middle schools in zunyi city. 3 classes were randomly selected from each grade in both schools. 1100 students were investigated by general situation questionnaire, the Middle School Student Mental Health Scale(MSSMHS), Adolescents Self-Rating Life Events Checklist(ASLEC), Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS) and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ). Students were paired grouped according to gender, family economic conditions, whether single, other factors such as whether the one-child. 1063 effective questionnaires were collected. The effective rate was 96.64%. Students whose scores of depression and interpersonal sensitivity were more than 2 in grade one and who were willing to participate in the study were selected into the study. 20 were selleted to experimental group and positive control group respectively among them. 40 students whose scores of depression and interpersonal sensitivity were less than 2 in grade one and who were willing to participate in the study were selected into negative control group. The number was 20, 20 and 40 in experimental group, positive control group and negative control group respetively. The gender ratio was 1:1. Routine processing which includes a week of psychological health knowledge panel propaganda and single mental health knowledge lecture was taken in both experimental group and control group. Except Routine processing, an continuous seven times group psychological counseling were taken in the experimental group. The questionnaires surveys were taken before and after the intervention and at 6 months after the intervention to contrast the differences among groups and the differences among different time points of each group. Results: The score of depression and interpersonal sensitivity was 1.92±0.742 and 1.93±0.690, and the depression and interpersonal sensitivity detection rate was 30.48% and 33.02% respectively in Junior high middle school students in Zunyi city. Negative life events and negative coping styles were positively related to depression, but social support and positive coping style were negatively related to depression(p < 0.01 or p < 0.05). Negative life events and negative coping styles were positively related to interpersonal sensitivity, but the social support were negatively related to interpersonal sensitivity(p < 0.01, p < 0.05). Depression and interpersonal sensitivity of Junior middle school students was significantly positive correlated(p < 0.01). The depression and interpersonal sensitivity scores of experimental group students were significantly reduced by group psychological counseling of humanistic orientation(p < 0.05), and their mental health level were improved accordingly. Conclusion: The scores and detection rates of depression and interpersonal sensitivity were high in junior middle school students in Zunyi city, and the influencing factors of mental health including life events, social support and coping styles.The depression and interpersonal sensitivity of junior middle school students was significantly positively related. And the humanistic orientational group psychological counseling significantly reduced experimental group students’ scores of depression and interpersonal sensitivity in the near and long-term future, raised their mental health level.
