Class is the main place for students’ activities. The high-efficiency classroom instruction depends on the students’ class participation. It plays a very important role in teachers’ teaching and students’ learning. As the subjects of learning in the class, students participate in classroom activities equally under the guidance of teachers, and try to explore and find problems. They can express their personal opinion, and realize the subject construction and achieve the development goals in the process of participation. “participation” is the security which ensure that students can follow the teachers’ teaching process, understand and memory the knowledge and think independently. It is very important of an active class participation to cultivate and develop students’ subjectivity.This thesis aims at investigating the current situation of student engagement in moral classroom teaching through questionnaire, interview and literature research to 300 freshmen in a higher vocational college in Chongqing. In the thesis, student participation is defined as the synthesis of behavioral, cognitive and emotional involvement. Behavior participation means the effort level of students’ behavior in the class, including concentration and study dimensions. Cognitive participation means students’ learning strategies in the class, which reflects their level of thinking. It includes shallow strategies, deep strategies and dependence strategies. Emotional involvement means students’ emotional experience in class including sense of fun, satisfaction, anxiety and boredom. This paper focuses on three research contents including the currents situation of the three kinds of student participation, existing problems and countermeasure.After that, it can be concluded as following six results: In moral class, students can concentrate on class teaching attentively, but study more obviously and also both can’t be enough; They prefer deep strategies to shallow strategies and relying on teacher or other classmates to solve the meeting problems in cognitive involvement; Positive emotional experience is more than negative emotional experience; Emotional participation is related with cognitive participation and behavioral participation, but there is no any relationship between behavioral involvement and cognitive involvement; Among students in different majors and differentgender, there are significant differences in emotional involvement and behavioral involvement, but no significant difference in cognitive involvement; For students with different ways into the school, there are differences in emotional involvement, but no obvious differences in cognitive and behavioral involvement.The reason for these problems is included internal aspects and external aspects:The internal reasons include lack of interest and less motivation in learning, deviation in thinking, and no much emphasis on this course; The external reason include simple teaching methods, less demanding on student participation, Irrational arrangements in school teaching and no better resources allocation, and no much time and harmonization between teachers and students. The following five policies are for these problems:First, all students should stimulate interest and improve motivation in learning. Second, establish a correct attitude and focus on it. Next, all teachers must enrich teaching methods and increase the requirements for participating students. Then, teaching must be arranged reasonable and resources allocation must be optimized. Last but not least, all teachers and students should participate and communicate with each other actively to be much more harmonious.
