With the further advance of modernization and the implementation of Made in China 2025 strategy, the demand for all kinds of high-skilled applied talents grows and the attention to improve cultivating quality constantly enhances. However, the quality and effect of higher vocational graduates’ employment is not very desirable.The emergence of this situation is the result of many factors. One of the factors which can not be ignored is that their employability is insufficient.Through the carding of career planning, this study gives a definition to higher vocational students’ employability. It refers to the ability that a person is able to find the satisfactory work, adjust himself according to the environment to adapt to the work, maintain the work and realize the development of his personal career. This paper holds that higher vocational students’ employability consists the following four kinds of capability: professional ability, job-hunting ability, adaptability and development ability.This study gives the comprehensive analysis to the problems existing in the graduates’ employability through the questionnaire survey for the employers and graduates. There are four main problems existing in the students’ employability. First,the professional ability is deficient. Second, job-hunting ability is insufficient. Third,the adaptability is weak. Fourth, the development ability is not enough. Based on career planning, this study puts forward countermeasures and suggestions for promoting students’ employability, mainly from the government, employer, colleges,teachers and students, forming "Five in one" pattern. Governments should strengthen employment guidance and improve its employment services. Employers should explore a new way of joint ventures between colleges to achieve multi-win-win situation. Colleges should import the career planning all the way to improve the students’ comprehensive ability. Teachers should guide students to establish correct vocational views. Students should cater to the needs of the market to improve the employability. Thus, this study has certain reference significance for guiding highervocational colleges to improve students’ employability.
